Abstract

The reconstruction of images from data modeled by the spherical Radon transform plays an important role in photoacoustic tomography, a rapidly developing modality for in vivo imaging. We provide two novel kernel based reconstruction algorithms adapted to this type of data: Optimal recovery and algebraic reconstruction technique. The thesis details the algorithms’ derivation, L2-error estimates in terms of the data density, convergence results, and a fast implementation. Several numerical examples for real and artificially generated data are included.
