Abstract

Wireless systems employing multiple antennas at the transmitter and the receiver can achieve extraordinary bit rates. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) significantly reduces receiver complexity in multi-antenna broadband systems. In this paper, we introduce an algorithm for blind channel identification and equalization in OFDM-based multi-antenna systems. Our approach employs nonredundant antenna precoding, uses second-order cyclostationary statistics, and yields unique estimates (up to a phase rotation for each symbol stream). Furthermore, it does not require knowledge of the channel order, imposes no restrictions on the channel zeros, and exhibits low sensitivity to stationary noise. We present simulation results demonstrating the channel estimator and the corresponding equalizer performance.
